The legacy continues to the 6th year of “Buriram Marathon 2022” — a phenomenal step to the world-class marathon

The spectacular annual marathon “Buriram Marathon 2022” has returned with more than 1,650,000-baht prizes. Chang and Thai Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd have joined hands to hold the marathon for the 6th year, in order to support sports tourism in accordance with the Ministry of Tourism and Sports’ policy. The event aims to generate income in Buriram and nearby provinces, return liveliness to tourist attractions, and publicize the event to attract Thai and foreign tourists; all of which go in accordance with a plan to reopen Thailand in 2022. This is the first and the only marathon in Thailand certified with a silver label which is a world-class standard from the World Athletics Label Road Race.

The theme of this year’s Buriram Marathon is “Night Run”. The event complies with strict preventive measures and assigns staff to accommodate runners. Before participating, all runners must have been fully vaccinated and tested for covid-19. The event areas and other activities within the race are enforced with a social distancing policy, in order to prevent the spread of covid-19.

There are 4 types of race: 1) Fun Run (6 km.), 2) Mini Marathon (10 km.), 3) Half Marathon (21 km.), and 4) Full Marathon (42.195 km.) The course starts at Chang International Circuit and ends at Chang Arena. Runners will get to enjoy the race while sightseeing at the world-class stadium and race track. Buriram Marathon will take place on 22 January 2022 only.

Apart from the race which is the main event, the organizer has also prepared other fun activities for runners and visitors from all over the world, for example, charming cultural shows from 4 regions, breathtaking firework shows, lively cheer squads along the course, sports and health product expo, etc. The event will be held at Chang International Circuit and Chang Arena in Buriram.
